MOVEMENT DISORDERS
Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy (ITB)
Benefiting you or a family member.

A one-day test is a simple and effective way to determine if a patient qualifies for ITB therapy. The doctor will give a candidate a small dose of baclofen to see if he/she responds to the medication. If the muscles relax, this indicates a positive response signifying this patient may be a candidate for ITB.
  Movement Disorders

Intrathecal Baclofen delivers an injectable form of baclofen directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord using a programmable pump and catheter that are surgically placed in the body. The medicine is delivered continuously based on the prescription ordered by the doctor. This process is known as intrathecal infusion. For most, a form of baclofen is delivered in small, precisely controlled doses throughout the day relieving severe spasticity with only tiny amounts of medication. Unlike oral medications, which circulate through the body in the blood system, ITB is delivered where it is most effective, thus minimizing side effects.

Home Care Plus has specially trained nurses in ITB therapies. Education and recertification is an ongoing process to assure optimal patient care.

We are adept at patient care and are accurate in both monitoring and infusing the medications prescribed by your physician... all in the comfort of your home, without taking you away from work or otherwise inconveniencing your time. Our nurses will test for gains in flexibility (known as the Modified Ashworth assessment), and send an exact telemetry and status report to the attending physician.

There is a difference in healthcare. ITB standards set by Home Care Plus are among the most stringent and exacting anywhere. Our patient's comfort and well being will not be compromised.
